On November 20th, we were honored to receive the 2018 “Fondation RAJA Women’s Award” in the “Vocational training and employability” category for our “Improving girls’ access to employment in the digital industry” project in Cambodia. Let’s take a look back at this award, and more generally at the support provided by Fondation RAJA to Passerelles numériques.

A Passerelles numériques partner since 2015, by financing the tuition fees of our female students in Cambodia, the Fondation Raja – Danièle Marcovici invited us to compete in the “Fondation RAJA Women’s Awards 2018” last year.

Launched in 2013, these awards reward non-profit organizations with a concrete, lasting impact on the emancipation of women in France and around the world.

After submitting an application and defending it before a jury in October, it was during the ceremony on November 20th that we were lucky enough to receive the award in the “Vocational training and employability” category.

This award is, above all, a great recognition for the work done on a daily basis by our teams in the field, and an encouragement to continue to fight against inequalities and for young women’s access to education and employment in the digital industry. This award will also allow us to finance the full scholarship of 5 female students in Cambodia for 1 year.” Michel Cantet, Passerelles numériques’ President.

Founded in 2006 under the aegis of the Fondation de France and at the initiative of Danièle Kapel-Marcovici, President and CEO of the RAJA group, the Fondation RAJA-Danièle Marcovici develops charity and patronage initiatives to promote the emancipation of women. The Foundation supports French non-profit organisations that are active in the field, all over the world in 4 areas: defending women’s rights and fighting against violence, education and social action, vocational training and employability, the environment and combatting climate change. In 12 years, the Foundation has supported 447 community projects in 54 countries, benefiting more than 90,000 women.

We favor projects that demonstrate concrete results benefiting women, which is the case with Passerelles numériques, which allows girls to find their place in a booming sector. This project directly contributes to improving the lives of young girls and their families but also helps change the role of women in professional sectors with high added value and more broadly in society. The impact is also positive on a wider scale because the economic empowerment of girls benefits the community as a whole.

Supporting training and professional integration projects is a priority for the Foundation, which particularly focuses on helping women who have difficulty entering the job market. The emancipation of women requires their economic empowerment and their social recognition. In this perspective, the Foundation is particularly interested in the opportunities of the digital sector, a very dynamic sector in terms of employment but still little open to women (in France, only 33% of employees in this sector are women). A big thank you to Passerelles numériques for its commitment and effectiveness in the field!
