To further the active participation and commitment of the alumni with the mission of Passerelles numériques, the External Relations Team of PN Philippines launched a joint project called the Nutrition Sponsorship Project. with the PN Philippines Alumni Association.

The Nutrition Sponsorship Project was developed in 2019 and was launched in January 2020. The project proposes that each class of alumni sponsor a portion of the monthly rice cost of the current students. PN Philippines spends at least ₱78,000 ($1562) for 43 sacks every month. Each class will decide for which month they will sponsor half of the monthly rice cost of the current students.

Currently, there are 432 official members of the PN Philippines Alumni Association. Since the launch, three alumni classes have already pledged their contributions.

For the month of January, the Class of 2017, represented by Marjorie Amaya made a contribution of ₱42,600 ($853), with an additional ₱11,700 ($234) which they were able to contribute in May, bringing the total to ₱54,300 ($1087).

“This project can really help the mission of PN, so they can continue to focus on the education and training needs of the students whilst still being able to provide for their basic needs.”

For the month of February, the Class of 2018, represented by Romar Maulana, has pledged ₱37,000 ($741).

“On behalf of the Alumni of Class 2018, we are delighted to be able to help in any way we can, even for just a small amount. We believe that this can help our fellow students and also encourage more alumni to continue to lend a hand at times like these.”

Last March, due to the unforeseen events brought about by the global health crisis, the project was put on hold, but in May things started to get slightly better. PN Philippines received a contribution of ₱20,540 ($411) from Class 2015 last May, which was both welcome and beneficial, considering the crisis we are facing right now.

External Relations Manager for PN Philippines, Thessa Torre, hopes the project will continue and increase the solidarity of alumni around PN.

“I am delighted and grateful to see the positive response of the alumni to this new project. Thanks to the alumni officers and representatives who have been highly active in coordinating with the rest of the PN Alumni! We are considering long-term implementation of this project as the alumni community continues to grow. I also hope that this project will promote solidarity and serve as an inspiration to current PN students.”
